Advance Your Surgical Skills: Corneal Transplant Surgery Training Course at the Venice Eye Bank

Updated: 18 hours ago

In surgery, continuous hands-on learning is essential. Techniques evolve, technologies advance, and mastering modern corneal procedures requires both precision and practice. Building on the learning opportunities introduced in our Fellowship in Cornea and External Diseases, we are pleased to offer the next step in skill development: specialized wet labs designed to elevate your surgical expertise.

These sessions provide practical experience in a controlled, supportive environment—ideal for surgeons who want to refine their techniques and gain confidence in complex corneal procedures.

Hands-On Training in Venice Eye Bank

We are organizing dedicated wet labs at the Venice Eye Bank, offering immersive training in:

  • DMEK

  • DSAEK

  • DALK

  • Basic keratoplasty techniques

These sessions are available for a fee and open to surgeons at different stages of training who want to sharpen their surgical skills using high-quality donor tissue and expert guidance.

If you’re interested, please email info@eye-unife.org to receive details and reserve a place.

Why Participate in These Wet Labs?

Learn By Doing

Hands-on practice is the most effective way to build precision, confidence, and muscle memory—especially for procedures like DMEK and DALK that demand meticulous technique.

Guidance From Experts

Our wet labs are supervised by experienced corneal surgeons who provide step-by-step instruction, feedback, and practical tips you can immediately apply.

State-of-the-Art Environment

Training takes place in a professional eye bank setting, offering access to modern equipment and realistic conditions that replicate surgical practice.

Aligned With Fellowship Learning

For those enrolled in or considering our Fellowship, these wet labs serve as the perfect complement—transforming theoretical understanding into practical, real-world skill.

Additional Opportunities

If you would like to explore further training pathways, we also offer:

  • Observerships (email info@eye-unife.org for details)

  • Opportunities to meet in person during ESCRS and AAO

  • Access to a global network of surgeons and educators

Ready to Level Up Your Skills?

Whether you want to refine your endothelial keratoplasty techniques, strengthen your confidence before entering the OR, or simply take the next step beyond our fellowship’s core curriculum, these wet labs are an excellent opportunity.
